| Key Strategic Organisation (Designate) for Alcohol Misuse
Who are we and what do we do
The Addiction Care and Support Agency (ACSA) has been appointed, by Richmond Council Volunteer Service, to be the key strategic organisation to lead on tackling alcohol misuse issues across the borough. This is our first “designate” year as a KSO.
ASCA aims to provide support, counselling and advice for individuals, families and communities affected by alcohol misuse in Richmond. ASCA also works to raise awareness of the dangers associated with alcohol misuse and prevent harm.
What are the objectives of ASCA as a KSO
- To involve and support local people and voluntary groups to reduce alcohol related harm
- To raise awareness and provide information on alcohol misuse issues locally
- To identify new funding opportunities for local services and groups helping people with alcohol problems and their carers
- To research levels of need and consult on how to tackle alcohol misuse
What we aim to deliver in our 2005/6 Designate year
- Start a Steering Group to consult on alcohol misuse issues
- Hold an Alcohol Awareness Day to raise awareness
- Carry out a mapping exercise to identify needs
- Publish an E-Bulletin to share information
- Carry out Alcohol Awareness Training to interested parties
- Extend the number of volunteers counselling people with alcohol problems
- Develop our own fundraising potential to raise funds to tackle alcohol misuse with our partners
