Young People's Alcohol Focus Project The aim of the Young People Alcohol Focus Project is to reduce the harm caused by alcohol misuse amongst young people. The project is for young people with alcohol problems and dependency. ASCA works directly with young heavy drinkers and provides outreach contact on the street, at youth clubs and elsewhere. We offer individual assessment, ongoing one-to-one support, referral to treatment and ongoing care. The Young People's Alcohol Focus Worker provides alcohol advice, assessment and one-to-one support for young heavy drinkers as part of youth outreach and drug/alcohol education services. They also act as a specialist alcohol treatment resource within drug education and outreach teams, working directly with young people in youth centres, schools and the community. In addition they enable access and referral for detox / residential treatment via CDAT and other clinical services. This project provides clinical alcohol support and treatment providing a youth-orientated and responsive alcohol service when needed. The Alcohol Focus Worker joins youth workers at youth centres, schools and in the community and works evenings as required, providing assessment, support and advice. The project links with Connexions Personal Advisors who are able to refer directly into the service with any young people with alcohol problems. The Alcohol Focus Worker also provides Connexions with training and workshops on alcohol-related issues amongst young people and in general.
